The Library Data Services (LiDS) Dataset provides information about data services offered by libraries at United States R1 and R2 institutions. With the support of the dataset creators, RDAP has agreed to maintain this dataset and complete its next update. This data is valuable in providing a periodic snapshot of library research data services and identifying potential new RDAP members. The goal of the LiDS Task Force is to update the dataset and potentially expand the institutions represented (potentially including Canadian Research Libraries for example). The original data collection methodology accompanies the original dataset and the Task Force is encouraged to explore new methods of updating the dataset including using a survey sent to libraries in the dataset and/or a GitHub project where libraries can request updates to their information. The Task Force will also write a report on the methodology they used and their thoughts on RDAP’s continued update of this dataset (recommended changes in methodology, number of people and hours needed, and how often the dataset should be updated).
Chairs: Stacie Poore Powell
Members: Abby Pennington, Mara Sedlins, Chad Kahl (LiDS Team), Joshua Newport (LiDS Team)
